A Student-Led Initiative for Language Access in Healthcare
Empowering Spanish speakers with resources for clearer healthcare communication and raising awareness of the long-lasting issue: language barriers in healthcare.
This project was inspired by my mother and by the many moments I wished there had been an accessible resource to provide support when I could not be there to help. No one should feel frustrated, unheard, or uncertain because of language differences.
About This Project
For many families, stepping in to interpret during medical visits becomes an act of love and responsibility. Family members often help bridge communication gaps so their loved ones can receive the care they need. While this support is deeply meaningful, friends and relatives are not typically trained medical interpreters. Translating complex health information, asking the right questions, and making sure nothing important is missed can feel overwhelming. I understand this experience personally. For many years, I have helped family members navigate healthcare settings and communicate across language barriers. Those experiences showed me how difficult the healthcare system can be when English is not your primary language.
Mission
To make healthcare information more accessible through clear resources, audio translations, and community-centered support.
We hope to empower individuals and families to feel more confident, informed, and understood when seeking care.
